Public forum held in Beijing to support Mideast peace process

A number of foreign and domestic experts gathered in Beijing on Thursday to discuss the promotion of the Middle East peace process at the Public Forum in Support of MiddleEast Peace.

A number of foreign and domestic experts gathered in Beijing on Thursday to discuss the promotion of the Middle East peace process at the Public Forum in Support of MiddleEast Peace.

Some of the delegates participating in the UN Meeting for Asia and the Pacific on the Question of Palestine and some experts from Beijing University attended the forum to explore ways for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The experts exchanged views on three topics, namely, "Public perception of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict: the unchallenged media", "The impact and educational responsibility of think tanks and academic institutions" and "The role of civil society in raising public awareness about the question of Palestine".

The forum, jointly sponsored by the United Nations and Beijing University, was linked to the UN Meeting for Asia and the Pacific on the Question of Palestine that opened here Tuesday. The meetingwas co-sponsored by the United Nations and the Chinese government with the theme of "Arousing International Support for a Peaceful Solution of the Question of Palestine".
