Russian Central Electoral Commission Friday announced the official results of the election of the fourth State Duma, or the lower house of the parliament, in which President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party won a landslide victory.

United Russia got 37.57 percent of the votes, while Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) and the Rodina (Homeland) bloc, the likely allies to United Russia, won 11.45 percent and 9.02 percent, respectively.

Communist Party of Russian Federation, the main opposition to the Kremlin, only got 12.61 percent.

The four parties will proportionally share half of the 450 seats in the State Duma -- United Russia, 120; LDPR, 36; Rodina, 29; and Communist Party of Russian Federation, 40.

Two liberal parties, Yabloko and Union of Right Forces (SPS), got 4.3 percent and 3.97 percent. The two parties will not be represented at the parliament as they failed to meet the 5 percent threshold.

The turnout of the Dec. 7 poll stood at 55.75 percent. About 4.7 percent of the voters cast their ballots "against all," the commission said.

Under Russia's electoral law, half of the parliamentary seats are shared on a proportional basis by parties winning at least 5 percent of the popular vote, while the rest 225 seats are up for grab in individual constituencies across the country.

The Central Electoral Commission has announced election in 222 of the 225 constituencies valid, but ruled to hold the runoff in other three constituencies since the percentage of voters who were against all candidates was higher than the percentage of votes collected by any candidate.
