600,000 pirated software discs destroyed
Some 600,000 pirated software discs and 400,000 pirated movie discs were destroyed Friday in Beijing.

The pirated software disks were confiscated in a joint action by the State Copyright Bureau (SCB), the
Ministry of Information Industry
, the
Ministry of Public Security
and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, which started in September this year.
Some 3.69 million pirated software discs have been found in thejoint action nationwide so far, said Wang Ziqiang, deputy directorof the Copyright Management Department under the SCB.
The joint action inspected more than 15,000 booths in 7,914 electronic products fairs nationwide and closed down 616 pirated software dealers.
The administrations have tightened supervision of Internet service providers to prevent them from distributing pirated software online, Wang said.
