Iran calls for fight against terrorism, unilateralism

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami Sunday called for campaign against terrorism and unilateralism atthe international level.

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami Sunday called for campaign against terrorism and unilateralism atthe international level.

In a meeting with his visiting Kyrgyz counterpart Askar Akayev,Khatami said the two countries share similar stance on developmentand progress as well as fight against terrorism and establishment of security and stability in the world.

Khatami stressed the importance of efforts to establish stability and security in the region, and strengthen economic,scientific and technical ties among the regional states.Referring to the establishment of a popular government in Iraq,Khatami said it would be a step towards the interests of the Iraqination and even the occupiers.

"We should all try to establish stability in Iraq and allow the Iraqis to decide their own fate. Tehran is ready to cooperate withthe global community in this regard," the president said.The Iranian president also hoped sustainable peace would be established in Palestine through return of all Palestinian refugees to their homeland, restoration of their legitimate rights and thePalestinians' rule over their fate.

For his part, Akayev said economic development in the regionwould demand establishment of stability and security.He also stressed that problems facing the Iraqi nation should besettled through the United Nations and based on international regulations.

Akayev arrived in Tehran on Saturday night on a two-day visit.
