India and Russia Tuesday exchanged views on countering the new global challenges and threats along with a range of key international and regional issues to further advance their strategic partnership, Indian local media reported on Wednesday.

Indian Ambassador Krishnan Raghunath to Russia and Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Trubnikov reportedly alsodiscussed the current state of Indo-Russian strategic partnership.

They discussed the scope for developing the strategic ties in the light of agreements reached between the two countries during Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Russia visit in November.

They also exchanged views on the combat against terrorism and situation in Afghanistan, media said.
