Threats of Al-Qaida against Iran has nothing to do with the arrest of Saddam Hussein, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said on Wednesday.

Given that Iran had been constantly threatened by the terrorists and Al-Qaida in the past, there is nothing new about it, Kharrazi said.

The minister confirmed that more strict security measures have been taken at a number of foreign embassies in Iran for possible terrorist operations on the occasion of the New Christian Year.It was Iran's responsibility to take added security measures at the embassies which are prone to such attacks and the steps taken are merely precautionary, he said.

Responding to recent remarks by Israeli Defense Minister ShaulMofaz against Iran, Kharrazi said Israel's constant threats againstIran are mostly propaganda and the Israelis themselves are wellaware that they are not in a position to take military operations against Iran.

Mofaz cited by Jerusalem-based Haaretz newspaper on Sunday saidthat Israel is considering an operation to destroy the nuclear capabilities of Iran, now considered as the Jewish state's number one enemy after the former Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein wastoppled.

"I believe that they are reasonable enough to avoid taking sucha measure," Kharrazi said.
