Cave-in traps three construction workers in Dalian

Three migrant workers were trapped in a cave-in accident at a construction site in this coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province Wednesday afternoon, witnesses said.

Three migrant workers were trapped in a cave-in accident at a construction site in this coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province Wednesday afternoon, witnesses said.

The fate of the trapped workers, who are buried under some 10 meters of earth and rubble was unknown at press time.

Some 40 local firefighters and one bulldozer have been mobilized to try to dig them out.

A slope at the construction site near Baishan Road in the city's Shahekou District suddenly collapsed at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday

The trapped workers are Liu Wei from Waifangdian City, Chen Zhongqiang from Pulandian City and Lu Xiujun from Chengde City, all in north China's Hebei Province, said Liu Yang, a local policeman.

Some of the trapped workers family members have arrived at the scene, waiting for further information.

The rescue work continues.
