The Singaporean Lianhe Zaobao carried an article expressing its concern for the booming economy at present in China. Citing the words of Ma Kai, Director-general of the State Commission for Development and Reform, the article says, the Chinese economy "has made a good performance expected for many years in the past".

Though China is now still ranked as the world 6th economic body following the US, Japan, Germany, Britain and France it is the No.2 world economic power so far as its increment is concerned, says the article. Last year saw the contribution of China to the increase of global economy reach 16 percent, next to the US only.

Citing the words of the analyst of Morgan Stanley the article points out, the boom of the Chinese economy is in essence different from the economic marvel made by Japan after the World War II. The outgoing special feature of the Chinese economy is much easier for other countries to get the benefits from it.

As learned, about half of the Chinese exports at present are from foreign enterprises in China, higher than the 45 percent in Malaysia, 38 percent in Singapore, 31 percent in Mexico and 15 in the Republic of Korea.

The article points out: the flourishing economy exercises influence not only on the daily life of the Chinese people but also offers a necessary material foundation for the enhancement of China's diplomatic status in the world. In last June, Hu Jintao, Chinese President went as invited to attend the dialogue of the north and south leaders at Evian France, being the first Chinese leader making his appearance at the summit meeting of the Eight Country Group. In October, Wen Jiabao the premier cut a figure at the meeting for the leaders of the ASEAN 10 plus 3 held at Bali Indonesia. All these have everything to do the increasingly stronger economy in China.
