China's Ministry of Justice is to launch a five-year training plan for television law journalists, said a senior official.

Hu Zejun, Chinese vice-minister of justice, said Monday at a meeting on legal awareness that the move would help improve program quality and promote the spread of general legal knowledge.

Hu Zhanfan, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Television and Film, said some legal programs only pursued audience ratings and sensationalism.

Journalists, he noted, should always bear in mind the social effects of programs and produce high-quality programs based on the need for legal awareness in order to create a law-abiding environment.
