Beijing reports rise in foreign trade in 2003
Beijing conducted 68.46 billion USdollars in imports and exports in 2003, up 30.4 percent year-on-year, according to local customs on Monday.

Beijing
conducted 68.46 billion USdollars in imports and exports in 2003, up 30.4 percent year-on-year, according to local customs on Monday.
The total included 15.85 billion dollars in exports, up 33.6 percent, and 51.61 billion dollars in imports, up 29.4 percent.
Local exports to the United Stated reached 1.07 billion dollarsin 2003, up only 4.8 percent year-on-year, a record low in history,with the volume to
Hong Kong
up only 1.9 percent to 820 million dollars, and that to the Republic of Korea down 26.6 percent to 280 million dollars.
Mobile phones remain the only local product whose export volumeexceeds 1 billion dollars. But Beijing exported 12.45 million mobile phones in 2003, valued at 1.21 billion dollars, down 14.5 percent and 10.3 percent year-on-year, respectively.
Exports by local overseas-funded firms rose by 27.7 percent year-on-year to 5.13 billion dollars in 2003, accounting for 69.9 percent of local total exports, an increase of 1.6 percentage points than a year ago.
