Tianjin women's volleyball team replayed last year's final and retained the China Volleyball Association (CVA) league title by beating Bayi 25-18, 20-25, 20-25,27-25 and 15-13 Saturday night in Tianjin.

Tianjin, who defeated Bayi with the same result in last season, produced a firm defending game to seal a deserved win in the first set, 25-18.

Although winning the opening set, Wang Baoquan, the head coach of Tianjin, said that they had much more pressure today than in last year.

"We were challengers last year, but now we are trying to defend the title. So players had a lot of pressure during the game."

Bayi soon geared up in the following sets and began to exert their overwhelming power over the net and displayed a scintillating attacking, beating Tianjin in the following two sets with 25-20 and 25-20. Zhao Ruirui scored 6 of her 18 points in the third set.

But it was not always easy for Zhao in the following sets, her 6 points in the fourth set could not save the visiting team be caught up. Tianjin went back strongly in the set and their enthusiasm style of play caused Bayi much trouble and won the set 27-25.

"We were fell behind wit 20-22 in the fourth set," said Wang, "but we finally won the set, and this greatly encouraged us. I was thinking at that time that we will win the final."

Tianjin attempted to reclaim their title of this season in the winning set, and they were not foiled by three serving mistakes in the 15-point set, beating Bayi 15-13 to take their second CVA champion.

"Bayi is the best team in attacking," said Wang, "and Tianjin is the best in defense. Both teams could win the final and we were a little bit lucky than Bayi."
