India may emerge as super power: Deputy PM

Indian Deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani Sunday said that given the upturn in the economy and other fast changes taking place in the country it was possible for India to emerge as a super power in the 21st century.

Indian Deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani Sunday said that given the upturn in the economy and other fast changes taking place in the country it was possible for India to emerge as a super power in the 21st century.

The Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted Advani as saying that the20th century may have belonged to the west, but this century definitely belongs to India.

"We will prove this and make the world see that it is quite possible for India to emerge as a super power," he made the remarks while inaugurating the 24th edition of Hindi Daily "DainikJagran" in Ludhiana of north India's Punjab state.

The Indian economy has taken a turn for the better and things were changing fast in this country, Advani said.
