US-bound plane stops in Ireland due to bomb threat

A US-bound plane with 147 passengers on board was forced to land at Shannon Airport in Ireland on Sunday due to a bomb threat, reports reaching London said.

A US-bound plane with 147 passengers on board was forced to land at Shannon Airport in Ireland on Sunday due to a bomb threat, reports reaching London said.

An Irish official at the airport was quoted as saying that a Delta airlines jet traveling from Germany to Atlanta, the United States, made an emergency landing safely in the west of Ireland and the plane was to undergo security checks.

Irish police only said that the landing was "security reasons" and Delta declined to make further comment as "the safety and the security of its passengers are its number one priority."

Reports also said all the passengers on board would be questioned by police.
