Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili met Monday with Tessa Jowell, British secretary of state for Culture, Media and Sports.
Chen voiced her appreciation for the continuous development of Sino-British exchanges and cooperation in culture, science, technology and education.
She said the peoples of both China and Britain have the desire to know more about each other as the two countries boast long histories, and hoped both countries would make positive contributions to the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
Jowell said the British side will strengthen exchanges and cooperation to make positive efforts to enhance understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
