A farmer who killed a family of four in a feud over an idle plot of land has been sentenced to death for murder.

Zhang Honghai, a farmer from Beijing's Fangshan District, was sentenced at the No. 1 Intermediate People's Court of Beijing on Thursday.

After a long investigation, the police alleged that Zhang Honghai, 29, Fu's neighbor, who had gone into hiding, was responsible for the deaths. Zhang was arrested in his wife's hometown in north China's Hebei Province on May 31 last year.

Zhang confessed that he committed the murders because he and Fuhad feud over the right to plough an idle plot in the village and showed remorse when the ruling was given.
