Pharmaceutical Co Ltd launched a modern pharmaceutical distribution centre, the first of its kind in China, over the weekend.
The centre, built with the co-operation of Siemens Dematic Group - a world leading automated logistics system provider - is located in the Maliandao Logistics Park, in the Xuanwu District of Beijing.
Total investment for the 12,000-square-metre large distribution centre amounts to 40 million yuan (US$4.82 million).
With state-of-the-art technology and equipment from Siemens Dematic, the modern logistics distribution centre will help improve the application of advanced foreign pharmaceutical distribution technology in China, said Chen Jisheng, chairman of the Beijing Pharmaceutical Co Ltd.
"We are very proud of co-operation with Beijing Pharmaceuticals in the implementation of this new benchmark for Chinese pharmaceutical distribution," said Harald Mieth, CEO and general manager with Siemens Dematic China Ltd.
Yu Mingde, executive president of the China Pharmaceutics Enterprises Management Association, pointed out that the establishment of the logistics distribution centre is part of China's pharmaceutics distribution system reform and that its standardization and high efficiency will guarantee quality and fair competition in the sector.
Set up in 2000, Beijing Pharmaceutical Co Ltd has become the largest pharmaceutical distribution firm in the capital city.
The company has registration capital worth 120 million yuan (US$14.45 million), 18 subsidiaries and combined assets of 700 million yuan (US$84.34 million).
The pharmaceutical giant is planning to further expand its business and is considering providing logistics services to other pharmaceutical enterprises.
