2 Jakarta hotel bombers to face trial soon

The Indonesian prosecutors will file terror case in the near future against two men allegedly implicated with the JW Marriott Hotel bombing on Aug. 5 last year that killed 12 people and wounded 150, an official said on March 6.

Tohir and Ismail, who involved in plotting and carrying out the bombing, are due to face trial at the South Jakarta District Court,Jakarta prosecutors' office spokesman Haryono was quoted as sayingby Detikcom online news service.

"We have appointed prosecutors to deal with the case," he said.

According to police investigation, Tohir and Ismail took part in the daylight attack by preparing explosives and transporting them from the Sumatra province of Bengkulu to Jakarta. They also helped assemble the bomb and delivered the bomb to the target, before the attack was finally carried out by a suicide bomber named Asmar Latin Sani.

The alleged masterminds of the bombing, Azahari and Noor Din Moh Top, remained at large.

Haryono said Tohir and Ismail could face a maximum penalty of death if convicted.
