Chinese government earmarks 1-bln-yuan for disaster-torn areas

China's central government has earmarked one billion yuan (120 million US dollars) as relief fund for areas hit by worst natural disasters, according to the Ministry of Finance Sunday.

China's central government has earmarked one billion yuan (120 million US dollars) as relief fund for areas hit by worst natural disasters, according to the Ministry of Finance Sunday.

The financial aid would be used for grain purchase to help disaster-stricken people tide over the Spring and Summer seasons.

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Civil Affairs had asked local financial and civil affairs departments to register the fund and distribute it publicly so as to ensure that it is used in disaster relief.
