Singapore
on Sunday launched a month-long anti-drug campaign as part of its efforts to deal with synthetic drug abuse in the island state.
According to local press reports, the campaign, kicked off by Singapore's National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA), will target youths aged 15 to 30 years old because they form a relatively larger group of synthetic drug abusers arrested in recent years.
Anti-drug creations, to be featured on TV, cinemas, outdoor posters, newspapers, magazines, internet as well as radio, will inform young Singaporeans of the need to stay drug-free or risk losing their social credibility otherwise.
Last year, Singapore narcotics officers busted 30 syndicates in56 major drug raids, and the number of drug abusers arrested in the country declined sharply by 47 percent compared to the year before.
