Two Chinese narcotic smugglers were sentenced to death recently in Beihai City of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for smuggling heroin.

The two smugglers were members of a narcotics smuggling gang.

Zhong Zubin swallowed 1,858 grams of heroin on five occasions and then transported them from Ruili City, a place in Yunnan Province near the notorious Golden Triangle along the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, to Beihai City in Guangxi.

On June 9, 2002, Zhong bought heroin which he brought to Beihai City and was caught by local police.

Zhong's boss, Tang Shangming, was also sentenced to death.

In another development, border police in Ruili City of Yunnan Province seized a suspect from northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on March 5 and confiscated 1,250 grams of heroin.

The suspect, who was not named, confessed to trafficking narcotics for smugglers when he found it difficult to get job in the city.
