'Little Swallow' marchs toward singing career

Celebrated Chinese film star Zhao Wei is shifting her intention to singing, as the movie actress has reportedly signed up with the music giant Sony.

Celebrated Chinese film star Zhao Wei is shifting her intention to singing, as the movie actress has reportedly signed up with the music giant Sony.

28-year-old Zhao Wei shot to fame in China's top rating TV series, Huan Zhu Ge Ge, or Princess Pearl, in the mid-1990s.

She made several films last year, such as Warriors of Heaven and Earth, and Green Tea, but the box offices were not so satisfied.

Known to Chinese fans as " little swallow" in Princess Pearl, Zhao Wei has already made two successful records, and hopes to regain her confidence through singing this year.

The film star plans to debut her new album in July.
