S.Korean and Japanese managers favor Chinese economy, Survey

According to the ROK newspaper Chosun Ilbo, the survey shows that among the business leaders of large companies in South Korea, China and Japan, S.Korean business leaders hold the highest opinion of the economic growth potentials in China.

According to the ROK newspaper Chosun Ilbo, the survey shows that among the business leaders of large companies in South Korea, China and Japan, S.Korean business leaders hold the highest opinion of the economic growth potentials in China.

Meanwhile most Korean, Chinese and Japanese business leaders hope that there would be a free trade agreement among the three countries

According to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei on Mar. 24, the conclusion was reached after Nikkei, International Business Daily, a Chinese newspaper and Maeil Business, a S.Korean newspaper conducted a survey on 306 business leaders of the three countries.

In response to a question - which country would have the most competitive economy by 2010, most of the 106 Japanese business leaders chose the USA and followed by China. However, among the 100 S.Korean business leaders more than 50 percent chose China first. Most of the Chinese business leaders agreed with their S.Korean peers, believing that China would be the most competitive, and then the US.

It is worth special mentioning that 62 percent of the S.Korean business leaders believed, in the next 10 years the Chinese market would approach to be a match for American market in scale and become a main consumption market. Most of the Japanese business leaders agreed with this opinion.

Meanwhile about 70 percent of the surveyed entrepreneurs believed that a free trade agreement among the three countries is an inevitable choice for promoting economy in East Asia. About 69.8 percent of the Japanese business leaders, 64 percent of the Chinese entrepreneurs and 75 percent of the S.Korean managers believed in the necessity of a FTA. Among them, 60.4 percent of the Japanese business leaders believed a FTA among the three countries to be the best solution. And 52 percent of the S.Korean and Chinese business leaders hoped that the three countries would sign a FTA. However, some of them believed a FTA should be signed first between China and South Korea, and then to take in Japan later.
