China to improve minimum living subsidy mechanism

The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs pledged on Thursday to further improve the minimum living subsidy mechanism to ensure poor urban residents receive necessaryhelp under new circumstances, such as price fluctuations, reported China Daily on Friday.

The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs pledged on Thursday to further improve the minimum living subsidy mechanism to ensure poor urban residents receive necessaryhelp under new circumstances, such as price fluctuations, reported China Daily on Friday.

The ministry urged local civil affairs departments to raise theallowance standard appropriately in accordance with local economicdevelopment, price jumps and changes in consumption levels to ensure that basic living standards for poor urban residents do notfall.

It asked local departments to form a flexible standard of minimum living subsidy, so that national funds can go to people who really need help, according to the newspaper.
