China ready to improve defense cooperation with Thailand: Chinese official

China is ready to push forward the existing good relations with Thailand and cooperation between the two countries' military, Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan said on Wednesday morning.

China is ready to push forward the existing good relations with Thailand and cooperation between the two countries' military, Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan said on Wednesday morning.

"The defense establishments and military of the two countries have had close interaction and cooperation and made positive contribution toward maintaining regional peace and development," said the Chinese defense minister after arriving at the Bangkok International Airport.

Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, is on an official goodwill visit to Thailand atthe invitation of his Thai counterpart Chettha Thanajaro.

The visit aims at "maintaining the close interactions between the two countries and between their military, developing friendship and promoting cooperation," said Cao.

"We are ready to join efforts with our Thai friends to continuously push forward the existing all-round China-Thailand friendly relations of cooperation and good-neighborliness," he said.

Thailand is the last leg of Cao's trip to Asian countries, which has already taken him to Pakistan and India. He will wind uphis visit to Thailand on Saturday.
