Mongolian president vows to boost partnership with China

Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy on Thursday reaffirmed the country's stand to develop long-term and stable partnership with neighboring China.

Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy on Thursday reaffirmed the country's stand to develop long-term and stable partnership with neighboring China.

Bagabandy made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua.

Despite the changes in its leadership, Mongolia has been maintaining a consistent policy to China -- to develop good neighborly and friendly relations with China on the basis of equality and mutually beneficial cooperation, said the president.

The long-term policy has been given priority among Mongolia's foreign policies, and Mongolia would continue to stick to it, he added.

Bagabandy noted the enhanced Mongolian-Chinese cooperation in all fields since the two countries signed the treaty on friendly relations in 1994 and two joint statements in 1998 and 2003.

A mechanism of exchanging high-level visits has been set up between the two countries, promoting all kinds of governmental, non-governmental and civilian exchanges, he added.

Commenting on Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Mongolia in June 2003, Bagabandy said the visit had promoted bilateral tiesto partnership of good neighborliness and mutual trust, which could be embodied by a long-term friendship between two peoples, mutual respect for courses chosen by each side, and mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutual trust.

The president said he believed the two countries would enjoy a more consolidate cooperation foundation, wider cooperation field and more cooperation programs.

As to bilateral economic cooperation, Bagabandy said China had become Mongolia's biggest investor and trading partner as a resultof the expanding economic cooperation between them, while the two still had great potential in their trading activities.

The expansion of the economic cooperation between Mongolia and China would not only push forward the two sides' economic development, but also promote the economic integrity of the region,he said.

Hailing China's achievements in manned spacecraft and economic development, the Mongolian president said a stronger China would benefit not only the development of Mongolia, but also that of Asia and the whole world.
