Siamese twins successfully separated in southwest China

Siamese twins were separated without a mishap on Saturday in Luzhou city of southwest China's Sichuan province after a six-hour intensive surgery.

Siamese twins were separated without a mishap on Saturday in Luzhou city of southwest China's Sichuan province after a six-hour intensive surgery.

The five-month-old baby sisters, born on Oct. 8 last year, werein a good condition after the operation, said a source with the hospital attached to the Luzhou Medical College.

Sisters Lianzi and Lianxin were joined at the chest and abdomen.Their livers were fused together, but the twins did not share any single organs.

The two babies now weigh 12.1 kilograms and measure 64 centimeters, the hospital source said.
