Chinese premier meets Colombian FM

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met and exchanged views with visiting Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Carolina Barco Isackson on bilateral relations Tuesday in Beijing.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met and exchanged views with visiting Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Carolina Barco Isackson on bilateral relations Tuesday in Beijing.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing told the Colombian foreign minister on Monday that China will work with Colombia to deepen their "mutually beneficial cooperation."

Li said China is satisfied with the smooth growth of bilateral relations with Colombia, and that China's new leadership attaches great importance to its relations with Colombia, which Li described as "friendly and cooperative."

The Colombian foreign minister, who arrived here Sunday night, said Monday that Colombia is grateful of China's assistance to thecountry in agriculture, education and other areas. She said there are still great potentials of cooperation to be tapped.

Barco will also visit Shanghai and Jiangsu and Shaanxi provinces before leaving for Hong Kong.
