The Legislative Council of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has cast a general vote in favor of the Bill on the Protection of Military Facilities, which would endow the People's Liberation Army (PLA) with a due right to shoot in time of need.

Sources with the First Standing Committee of the legislative said Tuesday that the bill has won across the board in the general vote. It is now under a detailed review at the Legco.

Under the bill, the PLA Garrison stationed in Macao would gain a legal right to address to military force for the protection of PLA's preserved military areas and military facilities in Macao SAR.

A clear alarm should be given before the use of force, and the PLA Garrison is obliged to provide a full account in time to the Macao SAR government if such cases happen, according to the bill.

Legislators here held that the bill is expected to be passed undisputed, cause it may not have negative effects on civilians' life in Macao.
