China reports rise in payment of urban employees

The per capita payment for Chinese urban employees reached 14,040 yuan (1698 US dollars) last year, and the figure was 12,422 yuan (1502 US dollars) the previous yearand only 10,870 yuan (1314 US dollars) in 2001.

The per capita payment for Chinese urban employees reached 14,040 yuan (1698 US dollars) last year, and the figure was 12,422 yuan (1502 US dollars) the previous yearand only 10,870 yuan (1314 US dollars) in 2001.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Tuesday that each urban employee worked an average 20.92 days, or 167.4 hours, everymonth last year, which earned him or her a daily payment of 55.93 yuan (6.8 US dollars).
