Beijing Relay-Marathon to kick off on April 11

The Beijing International Relay and Marathon will kick off on April 4 with an expected record of entries, organizers said on April 6.

The Beijing International Relay and Marathon will kick off on April 4 with an expected record of entries, organizers said on April 6.

More than 2,500 people from some 30 countries and regions have registered for their participation, including Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam and the United States.

The meet will feature both relay and 10km races for both men and women, as well as the International Group for Women, the officials explained.

Chinese Sun Yingjie, double winner in the women's 5,000m and 10,000m events in the Pusan Asian Games, will spearhead her teammates in the national training squad for the International Group event.

Inaugurated in 1986, the tournament in every spring, has evolved from a Sino-Japanese bilateral meet to a world-wide sportsgala since 1990 and has become one of the two annual road races inBeijing, with the Beijing International Marathon in every autumn. Enditem
