Blackseafor navy commanders discuss joint exercise program

Commanders-in-Chief of Navies of the Black Sea Naval Cooperation Task Group (Blackseafor) member states (Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey) are discussing in Tbilisi, Georgia the program of joint naval exercises, Itar-Tass report says Tuesday.

The Black Sea littoral states plan to hold the manoeuvres in the water area of the Poti (Georgia) and Varna (Bulgaria) ports this summer.

Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe (NAVSOUTH) Commander Vice Admiral Sanfelice di Monteforte is taking part in the two-day conference along with Blackseafor officials.

Commander-in-Chief of the Georgian Navy Vice Admiral Gigla Iremadze told journalists on Tuesday ��during the exercises fleets of Blackseafor countries will drill interaction at joint humanitarian and rescue operations.��

Iremadze said the sides have discussed the issue of globalization and its influence on navies of countries of the Black Sea region.

The NATO commander told reporters on Tuesday he intends to familiarize Blackseafor officials with the NATO operation against international terrorism carried out by the Alliance in the Black Sea area.
