US Vice President to visit Japan, China, South Korea

US Vice President Richard Cheney will start his three-Asian nation trip Friday, which will take him to Japan, China and South Korea.

US Vice President Richard Cheney will start his three-Asian nation trip Friday, which will take him to Japan, China and South Korea.

A senior official of the Bush administration announced Cheney'strip in a background briefing here Thursday.

"It's an important trip," the official said. "We've got a number of very important bilateral relationship, obviously, with all three nations."

The Vice President will arrive in Beijing next Tuesday, a trip slated to take place a year ago, but was postponed "primarily because of developments in the Middle East and the war on terror,"the official said.

During his stay in China, Cheney will meet Chinese leaders on bilateral relations and issues of common concern. He will also deliver a speech at Fudan University in Shanghai.
