Pakistan FM: China's rise benefits world peace

Pakistani Foreign Minister, Kuhurshid Mahmud Kasuri said Friday, April 9, that his country will continue developing a friendly relationship with China, and hopes to see a rising China.

Pakistani Foreign Minister, Kuhurshid Mahmud Kasuri said Friday that his country will continue developing a friendly relationship with China, and hopes to see a rising China.

He said Pakistan and China have common understanding on a wide range of regional and international issues.

The minister said China's growing influence on the world stage is not only beneficial to the stability of Asia, but peace of the whole world.

Kasuri said the two countries are friendly neighbours and any attempt to split China on the soil of Pakistan will be opposed by Pakistan. He also said the two countries are to strengthen cooperation in combating terrorism.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Kasuri Thursday to exchange views on bilateral ties and the situation in South Asia.

Also on Thursday, Chinese FM Li Zhaoxing and Kasuri held talks. Li Zhaoxing said China hopes Pakistan and India will make joint efforts for peace and stability in the South Asian region. He also hopes that the two countries will maintain the momentum for their dialogue.
