Las Vegas Sands Macao to persist with own style in operation
font size

Las Vegas Sands Macao in Macao will persist with its "Las Vegas-style" operation, with an aim to minimize risk of the casino industry, a source from the casino said Macao on Monday.

The Las Vegas Sands Macao will not open VIP room in the casino when it is partially opened in mid May. Instead, the entertainmentcomplex will make more efforts to develop its business on exhibition and convention centers, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls.

According to the source, the operation mode determined by the management of the entertainment complex is aimed to diversify its sources of income and minimize risk of the casino industry.

Las Vegas Sands Macao, the golden glass-covered complex operated by the Las Vegas Sands Inc., is expected to be put into full use in late June.

The Las Vegas Sands won a casino-operating concession along with the Hong Kong-based Galaxy in 2002, when the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government liberalized the gaming industry. The Macao Gaming Co. Ltd. owned by Stanley Ho and the Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts are the other two licensed casino operators.
