US commanders in Iraq ask for two more combat brigades

US commanders in Iraq said Monday they have asked for two more combat brigades.

General John Abizaid, commander of the US Central Command, saidat a video press conference from Bahdad that he had asked for "a strong mobile combat arms capability."

He had requested for two bridges worth of combat power, and wasworking the details with the US Joint Staff, he said.

Two US soldiers and seven US contractors working for a Halliburton subsidiary were unaccounted for in Iraq, according to Ricardo Sanchez, who is in charge of US military operations in Iraq.
