Nineteen processing enterprises of east China's Shandong province have resumed their poultry exports to Japan after the outbreak of bird flu in China, said an official with Shandong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
Sources with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan said 35 poultry processing enterprises from China had all passed the examination of Japanese experts and were successfully registered to acquire export qualification.
The eight-day examination was rigid, said the official. Japanese experts demanded to inspect the product line, the processing course and measure the central temperatures of processed products.
A Japanese expert said they did not expect many of China's enterprises to pass the examination, because the standards were high.
However the advanced facilities and the standardized process enabled all the enterprises to acquire the qualifications, and this would be a good foundation for the complete resumption of poultry exports from China to Japan, he said.
As the base of China's poultry industry, Shandong boasts over half of China's entire poultry export last year.
