"Mainland Orientation Program for Hong Kong Professionals" was launched Thursday to assist local professionals in making a knowledge planning for pursuing career in the mainland of China.
Speaking at a press briefing, chairman of Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services and project advisor C Y Leung said, "Withthe rapid economic growth in the mainland, the implementation of CEPA, and China's accession to World Trade Organization, Hong Kongprofessionals are faced with a myriad of opportunities and challenges in the mainland market."
Leung expressed his hope that the program would enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong professionals to capitalize on opportunities by enriching their understanding of the working culture and business practices in the mainland.
According to Leung, the program comprises a series of cross-disciplinary and specialized courses. The cross-disciplinary courses will include "Bridging Cultural Gap in the Mainland," "Building Communications Skills in the Mainland" and "Professional Ethics in the Mainland." The courses featured speakers from overseas, the mainland and Hong Kong.
The program is organized by the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services, with the Hong Kong Productivity Council andJoint Professional Center as implementation agents. It received funding support from the Professional Services Development Assistance Scheme of the Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regional government.
