Archaeologists claim that the large ancient rock picture they spotted in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently is the largest one ever discovered in Xinjiang.

Located in Chonghu'er township, Burqin county of Altay prefecture, the 13 meter by seven meter rock picture was excavated along with nearly 100 rock pictures.

All the pictures engraved on rocks are of wildlife and nomadic ethnic groups, said Wu Dongjun, director of the cultural relics administration of Altay.

The age of the rock pictures is still under investigation.
