Flooded coal mine in Henan resumes production
font size

Chaohua colliery of the Zhengzhou Coal Industrial Corp. in central Henan province, which was flooded last week, has resumed production after all 12 trapped miners were rescued, a mining official said Monday.

Su Wanli, secretary of the Party committee of the corporation, said the coal mine resumed full operation and produced 6,953 tons of coal on Sunday, 453 tons more than the scheduled output.

The 12 miners and technical workers, who were trapped in the afternoon of April 11 when a working face of the Chaohua coal mine was suddenly submerged, were rescued Friday. They have been sent to the Workers Hospital of Zhengzhou Coal Industrial Corp for treatment and rehabilitation.

The Chaohua colliery produces 2.4 million tons of coal annually.
