As of Sunday, more than 77,000 overseas business people had come to the 95th China (Guangzhou) Export Commodity Fair, which opened last Thursday in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
With 27,500 booths, the fair, the largest of its kind with 150,000 categories of commodities on display, is expected to attract as many as 300,000 business people from across the globe, said organizers, citing that the attendees at the opening day of the fair reached a record high of 21,900.
Multinational procurement conglomerates, such as Carrefour of France and QVC of the United States, are all present at the fair, said organizers.
To ensure the success of the fair, a regulation has been outlined for measures to deal with health emergencies and other security problems, and a team has also be formed to direct any necessary rescue work.
The fair will be held in two stages, with manufactured goods on show at the first stage that ends Tuesday, and souvenirs and giftsand commodities for daily use at the second stage from April 25-30.
The export commodity fair, a biannual event held in spring and autumn, is dubbed the "weatherglass" of the country's foreign trade, as it accounts for one-third of the country's exports conducted through general trade.
Business deals worth 20.49 billion US dollars were struck at the 94th China Export Commodity Fair.
