Adventures of Tintin Back in China
font size

The world-famous Belgian cartoon adventurer Tintin will arrive in China with his equally famous dog Snowy, in memory of the 75th anniversary of Tintin's birth.

China Central Television is to play the renowned cartoon series, by Belgian cartoonist Herge, Adventures of Tintin from May 2nd, featuring action-packed episodes like "The Crab with the Golden Claws", "Red Rackham's Treasure" and the "Secrets of the Unicorn".

Tintin, with his trademark quiff and plus-four trousers, traveled all over the world on adventures that took he and his white terrier Snowy from Tibet to America and Iceland to Africa.

The eternally youthful reporter Tintin, who was only ever known to file one story in all his adventures, is celebrating his 75th birthday this year world wide.

In Britain, an exhibition related to "four famous Belgians: Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock and Herge himself" is going on at London's National Maritime Museum.

Books of Herge's adventures have been translated into 60 languages and have sold 200 million copies since the comic strip character first saw the light of day seventy five years ago.

Herge, who only traveled widely after the success of his creation, was a self-taught artist.
