font size

China held a musical performance here Tuesday night to mark the centenary birth anniversary of Ren Bishi, a former prominent leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Prior to the music epic in Ren's honor, Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong met with the family members of Ren who died of cerebral hemorrhage in October 1950 as a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

Zeng praised Ren for the latter's contribution to the country's independence and liberation, describing him as one of the outstanding leaders of the Party.

Ren, who was born in 1904 and native of Xiangyin, Hunan Province, was head of the Political Department of the Eighth Route Army after the outbreak of Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945). He began to work for the revolutionary undertaking when he was 16 years old.

The performance included recitation of poems and singing of songs in praise of the revolutionary leader.
