Central China province reports big volume in favorable balance of trade

Central China's Henan Province did 1.28 billion US dollars in imports and exports in the first quarter of this year, up 33.6 percent year-on-year, reporting a favorable balance of trade at 284 million dollars, according to local customs.

The United States remains the largest trade partner with Henan with bilateral trade reaching 228 million dollars, up 46.8 percentyear-on-year, followed by the European Union countries with 162 million dollars, Hong Kong with 117 million dollars, Japan with 115 million dollars, and the Republic of Korea with 102 million dollars.

Trade with the five partners, combined 724 million dollars, accounted for more than half of local total foreign trade.

Local exports to other destinations were also on the rise during the first three months of this year, with the volume to ASEAN nations going up 20 percent year-on-year to 72 million dollars, the volume to India rising 47 percent to 290 million dollars, and that to Taiwan soaring 71 percent to 240 million dollars.
