Dominican government to withdraw troops from Iraq

Dominican President Hipolito Mejia Tuesday declared that Dominican troops would withdraw from Iraq "as soon as possible," Armed Forces Secretary Jose Miguel Soto Jimenez said.

The official confirmed that Mejia had ordered the withdrawal of the Quisqueya Task Force, composed of 300 soldiers, following the Spanish decision to pull its troops out of Iraq.

"The withdrawal of Dominican soldiers is now being communicated by diplomatic channels," the minister said.
