Vice-Premier Zeng urges int'l cooperation on fertilizer producing

Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan on Thursday urged Chinese fertilizer producers and research institutions to cooperate with foreign partners to improve fertilizer quality and productivity.

Zeng made the remark at the three-day technical conference of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), which wasclosed here Thursday.

China is a large agricultural country as well as a big fertilizer producer and consumer, Zeng said, noting that the advancement of China's fertilizer producing technology helps improve its farming productivity and boosts the country's comprehensively building of a well-off society.

Zeng said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of agriculture and rural areas and cares very muchthe well-being of farmers.

To further accelerate China's farming industry, the Chinese government has taken many measures, aiming to provide safe and highly effective farming materials to farmers and lower the manufacturing and farming cost, Zeng said.

In addition, many measures have been put in place to lower the farming pollution, enhance bio-agriculture industry and protect the food and water resources in rural areas, Zeng said.

Zeng said IFA has done a great job in improving the fertilizer producing technology of its members and he hoped Chinese manufactures as well as research institutions will improve exchanges and cooperation with the foreign partners to made contributions to the advancement of fertilizer producing technology and agriculture industry.

This is the first time for IFA to hold its conference in China and over 200 fertilizer manufactures and experts attended the meeting.
