Greek and Turkish Cypriots vote on Saturday on UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan's plan for unifying Cyprus.
If the UN plan is rejected by one side, it would be null and void and only the Greek Cypriot part of the island will join the European Union on May 1.
Here are some contentious points in the plan on Cyprus reunification:
The Greek Cypriot side demands that the future central government play a stronger role while Turkish Cypriots want more autonomy for each side.
Turkey complains that the disarmament terms are too harsh.
The Greek Cypriot side puts the number of returning Greek refugees at 200,000, a number the Turkish Cypriot side calls too high.
The Turkish Cypriot side says there are already 80,000 residents on the island, and they are reluctant to move.
