An explosion took place April 25 noon in a firecracker plant in central China's Henan province, killing at least one person.

Police source in Xinzheng City said that the explosion occurred in a private firecracker workshop in Longwang Town's Tieli village around 1:00 p.m..

Four houses were destroyed in the explosion and one person was confirmed dead.

Officials of local government rushed to the scene, organizing the rescuing work.

The cause of the explosion was under investigation.

Death toll of a firecracker plant blast that happened Sunday in central China's Henan province rose to three by 5:00 p.m., according to local police source.

The blast took place in a private firecracker workshop of Xinzheng City's Longwang Town around 1:00 p.m., said the source.

Four houses were destroyed and three people were confirmed deadin the accident, the source said.
