10 people killed in Indonesia's bloody clash

At least 10 people have been reportedly killed in a bloody clash between the local Muslim and Christian communities in this country's Maluku island on Sunday.

According to reports from Ambon, the capital of the province, the religious gangs fought a running battle on the streets, during which a church and a United Nations office were set on fire and at least four people were killed in Ambon during the conflict while dozens of others also injured.

Ambon and other parts of Maluku were trobled-ridden area in some years due to the religious conflicts between the Christian and Muslim communities, during which thousands of people lost their lives. However, peace has restored in general since a government-brokered peace record was signed in earlier 2002.
