Pak-India nuke talks good for restoring world confidence: Pakistani official
font size

The confidence-building measures (CBMs) between Pakistan and India in the nuclear field will contribute to restoring the confidence of the world, said a Pakistani foreign office spokesman here on Tuesday.

"When the confidence would be restored between these two countries in nuclear field, the confidence of the entire region and the world would also be revived," News Network International quoted Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan as saying.

The dialogue between Pakistan and India, to be held on May 25, will reduce chances of Pak-India nuclear war, the spokesman said.

"No one wants nuclear war because none can save itself from its catastrophic consequences; it was realized immediately by Pakistan, India and the entire world that both have become nuclear states, so they should take such measures which may restore the confidence between the two countries," he said.

Both Pakistan and India became nuclear powers after a nuclear weapons test fire competition in 1998.
