Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Committee (CMC), and Hu Jintao, vice chairman of the CMC, visited the China International Logistics and Transport Exhibition (2004 China Logistics) Wednesday.

CMC vice chairmen Guo Boxiong and Cao Gangchuan, CMC members Xu Caihou, Liang Guanglie, Liao Xilong and Li Jinai, as well as Liu Qi, secretary of Beijing's municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Mayor Wang Qishan accompanied the top military leaders during the visit, in the Beijing Exhibition Hall.

During their visit, Jiang and Hu inquired about the logistic equipment on display and urged the Chinese defense industry to learn advanced technology from their foreign counterparts, so as to enhance the technical level of the country's military logistic equipment.

The exhibition is co-sponsored by the General Logistic Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Beijing Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Over 170 foreign companies from 26 foreign countries join over 1,700 exhibits from over 140 domestic firms in the exhibition.

The first China Logistics was held in 1987 and three such exhibitions were held in the past.
